From June 17th to July 31st I will be studying at the National Theater Institute in Waterford, CT. I want to share that experience with you! I will update periodically, I'll try my best to do it at least every two days.
June 24th : Week One
Okay so I know I said I would try and update y’all every two days, I don’t think that is possible. But I have some free time right now so…The past 6 days has been CRAZY!!! In the best way though. I feel as if I am already learning so much about a lot of things.
I’ve been doing a lot of directing, and a lot of learning about directing which is amazing. But also, we are doing Droznin Movement and Mask work and Improv and Voice work and playwriting and yoga and devising and not sleeping. Mostly not sleeping. Just kidding, kind of. The reality is this place is amazing. The people are amazing and the work is amazing. I’m honored to work so closely with such a talented group of artist. They are amazing. Last night we saw, The Square Root of Three Sisters in New Haven and it was amazing. A great adaptation of a beautiful story. If you have the chance to go, do it. Very powerful and moving. Today we lucky enough to have a wonderful masterclass with Michael Berresse who was nominated for a Tony in 2000 and directed title of show. He is an incredible artist. Anyway I know this has been short but it is all the time I got! Miss you all lots! We have another performance this Monday, with the Debate Society! Come and visit.
May 24th : Pre-Departure
Well there is three weeks till I leave for Conn. and the work has already started, before I get there I have to read five books: Towards a Poor Theatre; Voice and the Actor; The Invisible Actor; Thinking Like a Director; The Director's Craft. I am so excited to get started! I can't wait to meet everyone there and start working. Also you have the opportunity to see our work. We have several public performances.
